What is Ukulele?

The ukulele is a musical instrument from the guitar family, known as uke for short. Ukulele is a four-string instrument with nylon strings which came into existence in the 19th century by the Portuguese. Ukuleles are mostly of four sizes: soprano, concert, tenor, and baritone.

A ukulele is an instrument that is similar to a guitar or a banjo. Hawaiians called it the "jumping flea" because when you play it can make people jump in rhythm. It's mainly used for strumming chords, and has four strings. Fingerpicking, which doesn't include any percussion other than your fingers tapping the strings, is also possible but less common.

If you're just getting started, it's recommended that you use a nylon string ukulele as they are beginner friendly and don't need to be tuned very often. These u-kays, as some may call them, come in all sizes (doesn't have to be the soprano). Unlike acoustic guitars, these instruments are fully electric meaning that when plugged into an amp, these little babies ROCK!

Playing ukulele also helps in developing proper hand eye coordination among kids and adults. Ukulele playing also relieves stress and brings mental peace to the learner.

There are many benefits which every individual irrespective of age, ethnicity and geographical location, can get from playing ukulele. For instance one may get entertainment while addressing the mental health practicalities that they go through on a daily basis; others may benefit from the constructive coordination and personality transformation it can cause in them.

For adults, Ukulele playing makes them feel and look young since this is an adventure too. It's been proven to boost creativity and motivation, making them alert and vigilant of their environments.
