here is the first keyboard lesson you need

By Spardha Learnings |

Bought a piano/keyboard recently, and don’t know where to begin?

Don’t fret! Here’s everything you need to learn in your first ever Keyboard lesson!

Look at the keyboard. There must be some black keys and white keys on the keyboard. We are gonna name them for our ease to go further.

So, for your first keyboard lesson, you are going to familiarize yourself with the keyboard and learn to label the keys.

The musical alphabet has only 7 letters: A, B, C, D, E, F, G

So, which one is A, B, C and so on…?

Look at the keyboard carefully. We’ll first find the C key.

Because the location of C helps in identifying the rest.

Notice the set of black keys on the keyboard. They are distributed in a set of two keys and three keys.

Pick the white key right before the set of two black keys, and mark it C.

Now we know about our white keys, but what’s the deal with all these black keys?

In music, there are sharps (#) and flats (b).

On the keyboard, the key next to a note is sharp and the previous key is flat. For example, the next white key after C is D, but the black key in between C and D acts as both C# and Db.

Similarly, let’s mark all the keys on the keyboard.

Remember that a keyboard has a set of two and three black keys and there are 7 white keys that repeat. This gives us a total of 12 keys.

You surely know all the keys on your keyboard now. If you have any questions, please leave a comment!
