About The Course

Kathak certification course offered by the Akhil Bharatiya Gandharva Mahavidyalaya Mandal (ABGMM). After completing all topics in the Foundation and Method Book 1 course, your child will be ready to appear for the first exam, 'Prarambhik,' from ABGMM.
This nationally and internationally recognized certification validates the student's foundational skills in Kathak and opens doors to advanced learning. The exam assesses their understanding of basic rhythm patterns, footwork, hand gestures, and expressive dance, all the beautiful techniques your child has been practising in class.
The teacher will guide your child through exam preparation in live, interactive 1-1 sessions, ensuring they feel confident and ready to showcase their skills with grace and authenticity. And Spardha's examination team will help you throughout the process of examination from application to getting the results for you, to ensure you don't miss any deadlines and can focus only on your child's preparation while we handle the rest.

Prerequisites

• Must have completed the Kathak Foundation course and Method Book 1, or equivalent training covering all foundational and beginner-level 1 topics.

Topics Covered (Combined from Foundation & Method Book 1)

• Kathak Namaskar and 6-7 Hastaks
• Taal Teentaal at 3 speeds: Barabar, Dugun, and Chaugun
• All 6 Todas in Taal Teentaal
• 2 Chakradar Todas in Teentaal
• 2 basic Tihais
• Asamyukta Hastamudras (single-hand gestures) from Abhinaya Darpana
• Basic Abhinaya piece like a Bhajan or Ganesh Vandana
• Kramalaya and rhythm response
• Basic spin techniques
